The history of wine spans thousands of years and is closely intertwined with the history of agriculture, cuisine, civilization and humanity itself. Archeological evidence suggests that the earliest known production of wine, made by fermenting grapes, was in the region known as Mesopotamia as early as 6,000 BC. This area is known today as Georgia and Iran. Evidence of the earliest European wine production has been uncovered at archeological sites in Macedonia dated to 6,500 years ago.

In Egypt, wine became part of recorded history, playing an important role in ancient ceremonial life. Traces of wild wine dating from the second and first millennium BC have also been found in China.

Little is actually known of the early history of wine, but it is plausible that early foragers and farmers made alcoholic beverages from wild fruits and wild grapes. Exactly where wine was first made is still unclear. It could have been anywhere in the vast region stretching from North Africa to Central/South Asia where wild grapes grow.

Much modern wine culture derives from the practices of the ancient Greeks. While the exact arrival of wine in the Greek Territory is unknown, many of the grapes are grown there exclusively and are similar or identical to grapes grown in ancient times.

The Roman Empire had an enormous impact on the development of viticulture. Wine was in integral part of the Roman diet and wine making became a precise business. Virtually all of the major wine producing regions in Western Europe today were established by the Romans.

Grapes and wheat were first brought to what is now Latin America by Spanish Conquistadors to provide the necessities for the Catholic Mass. Planted at Spanish missions, one grape variety came to be known as Mission Grapes, and is still planted today in small amounts. Succeeding waves of immigrants imported French, Italian and German grapes, although wine from grapes native to the Americas is also produced.

Wine in the Americas is most closely associated with Argentina, California and Chile, all of which produce a wide variety of wines from inexpensive jug wines to high-quality varieties and proprietary blends. Until the latter half of the 20th century, American wine was generally looked upon as inferior to European product, it was not until the surprising American showing at the Paris Wine Tasting of 1976 that New World wine began to gain respect in the lands of wine's origins.

Two Glasses of Wine

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 glasses of wine…

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two glasses of wine from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things; your family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions; things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car. The sand is everything else; the small stuff.

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you."

"Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. Do one more run down the ski slope. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first; the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the wine represented.

The professor smiled, "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of glasses of wine with a friend."

Perhaps you have wondered about taking a RV vacation. It seems like fun and you'd like to try it, but you aren't sure if it's for you. Well, it's a growing industry. As baby boomers take to the road, the RVing pastime and lifestyle are becoming increasingly popular. If you have a hint of the RV itch, then here are 10 common reasons for taking an RV vacation:

	1. Getting Back to Nature: If you are interested in the great outdoors, an RV is a great way to vacation. You can visit state or national parks, tour famous landmarks and simply enjoy some fresh air and natural settings. Take a hike or go fishing. Try white water rafting or canoeing. Play some golf, go swimming, ride your bike. Get some exercise or simply do nothing but enjoy your surroundings.

	2. The Comforts of Home: In an RV, you can have the best of both worlds. Enjoy the great outdoors with more creature comforts than tent camping. Whether you own an RV or try a rental, most RVs are well equipped. You will likely have a kitchen with microwave, fridge and stove, a TV and VCR, beds, living and dining areas and bathroom with shower. Many RVs have slide out rooms that increase the living area at the touch of a button. You can sit outside under your awning, get out of the rain if the weather changes, and turn on the air conditioner if it gets too hot.

	3. Family Matters: Family members of all ages tend to connect with each other when they are away from their normal routine enjoying a simpler lifestyle. Remember that family togetherness can be a double-edged sword. While the RV is comfortable, it is a small living area for a large family. If you are renting, bear this in mind in choosing the size of your rental RV. During the day, try to spend time outdoors or in different activities, so that each family member gets a bit of personal space and time for themselves. But the minor logistics can be managed. The general consensus among RVing families is that an RV vacation tends to bring the family closer together with more communication and the sharing of good times.

	4. Cool for Kids: An RV vacation can be a great way to travel with children. They can go out to play or take part in campground activities. There are likely to be other kids to meet and new places to explore. Children of all ages will enjoy an old-fashioned campfire complete with stories, songs and stargazing. And most kids think it\'s pretty cool to be in an RV "home on wheels".

	5. Campgrounds: There are many choices in campgrounds and RV parks. In peak season and tourist areas, you should make reservations. Look for the amenities that are important to you. Campgrounds may have swimming pools, lakes, boating, fishing ponds, miniature golf, playgrounds, hiking trails, game rooms, walking or bike paths, tennis courts and activities for kids and adults. You may find dances, barbeques, contests or other entertainment. RV Clubs are worth joining to get campground discounts and other services. Consider the size and setting of the campsites and check out overall campground ratings in campground directories. Also consider proximity to other attractions or landmarks that you want to visit.

Items such as an RV awning, bicycle rack, satellite TV system, GPS, solar panels and generators can maximise the use you get from your recreational vehicle. You've made an expensive purchase in your RV, but by spending a little more on some accessories you can greatly increase it's value to you.

Larger and more modern RV's tend to come with both space and creature comforts and may include many of the accessories mentioned above. However smaller models often require some extra's to be added to enhance the living and travelling experience in such a vehicle. For example an inexpensive awning can double your living space when attached to your RV. If equipped with a proper groundsheet and correctly sealed to your vehicle, it can provide extra sleeping berths also. RV awnings are versatile – some are standalone, meaning you can detach from your vehicle, drive away and re-attach it on your return. This provides the advantage of not having to pack all your belongings or your crew into the RV if you need to leave your site pitch for a little while. Some style awnings have detachable side walls, which is more than useful in warm climates and can create a breeze flow through the living space. The extra living space created by an awnings is most useful over a long stay on a site pitch.

Other useful accessories for your RV that you may wish to consider are two forms of power supply that make wild camping over extended periods possible namely solar panels and / or a generator. If you are not hooked up to an electric source, both offer a alternate power supply.

There are countless other RV accessories that will either enhance your living experience in your RV or your travelling experience in your vehicle. It is strongly advised that you research what is available and that you take the time to determine what best suits your needs.

Many people live out their lives without really enjoying their work. Then they retire and try to enjoy their final years, but really spend all their time fretting if their retirement savings will hold out. What if you could combine investing your savings with having the time of your life? Well, you can. And here's how to do it.

Analyze how much working capital you have.

The first step to taking control of your life is to know what you have to work with. Take an inventory of all your assets. If you buy an RV park, you will live inside the park, so you can include the equity in your home in your calculations. Of this amount, you need to hold back a healthy portion for security – never put all your money into a down payment, as you need elbow room for emergencies and just peace of mind. If you have $100,000 in liquid assets, then you will only want to use maybe $50,000 of that as a down payment.

Learn everything you can about the RV park business.

Read everything available on the internet. Drive through the RV parks in your area and get a good feel as to if that type of thing interests you or not.

Start hitting RV park deals for sale and get familiar with the numbers.

You can find hundreds of RV parks for sale on our web site. Take advantage of that, and become an expert on what the market rates are for return levels and price per lot. You will immediately note, through occupancy, what the "hot" and "cold" areas are for RV parks. You will also learn the difference from a "seasonal" RV park and a year-round RV park, and what a "destination" RV park is. Once you can guess at the value of a park through nothing more than its location and amenities, then you are ready to start making offers.

	Make offers on many parks.

Buying an RV park is a volume business – you will have to make many offers. The point is to get a great buy, and you can't buy low unless you ask for a low price. Don't be afraid to have multiple deals going at one time. That's what the experts do. When you find a deal that you feel very excited about and want to go forward, then you are ready to go to the contract phase.

Tie up the park under contract.

Don't freak out when you put an RV park under contract. If you have used the right contract form (such as the one provided by us, you will have the ability to cancel the deal for any reason during due diligence. You may put many parks under contract and drop them over time. This is perfectly natural. But you have to get off dead center and start tying them up to learn how to do it.

	Perform great due diligence.

Great deals are made at the front end – if you buy it right, it will always be a winner. So make sure to analyze every inch of the deal. You will want to re-build your proposed income and expense statement yourself, without relying on the seller's version. You can't be too careful – there are plenty of unscrupulous sellers out there.

	Get financing.

Obtaining financing can b e a challenge in today's world. That's why RV parks are so good – many sellers will offer to carry the financing for you, so you don't have to make application to a bank. Just make sure that the length of the note is long – 7 to 10 years – so that you have time to find a real bank down the road.

Close on the deal and change your life.

Owning an RV park can be a great way to change your life for the better. Many people love to be their own boss, set their own schedule, and have many different things to do all day. And, as an RV park owner, you will find that you wear many hats. One of the key things that people enjoy about owning RV parks is getting to meet so many different people. If you like people, you'll love RV parks. Every day are new guests, as well as fun current residents to talk to. And the more you like them, the more they feel that "love" and will want to return.

	Conclusion.

Sure, it's hard to break out of your comfort zone. But would you rather stay miserable? At least look into owning an RV park as a way to get you the quality of life you want. And when you buy one, be sure to invite all your miserable friends to come visit you – if they can ever get away from their boring 9 to 5 jobs!

Many celebrities are opting to have it. A recreational vehicle or RV is more than a luxurious form of transportation. Nowadays, the functionality of an RV is getting more and more practical. Many people are choosing to sell their current homes just so they could finance an effort to acquire an RV.

What makes owning a recreational vehicle worth it? Basically, an RV is an enclosed form of large vehicle that is apparently and practically converted into an improvised home. You may have probably seen an episode of MTV Cribs or any other Hollywood celebrity show wherein an icon's RV is being featured. You surely have an idea of how the interior looks like.

The Recreational Vehicle

Usually, a recreational vehicle has an interior that is no different from a small condominium. There are stylish windows, the floor is carpeted and the whole place is fully furnished. There are also rooms where the owner could relax and take some sleep. There is a bathroom and a restroom, as well as kitchen and a living room. Basically, an RV is a simple home.

Aside from celebrities who are always on locations for filming and other job-related trips, many retirees are opting to give up their homes to acquire a recreational vehicle. Other homeowners are thrilled by the thought of having different locations for the home. Many people are excited about sleeping in Los Angeles and waking up at San Francisco without leaving home. That is possible if you are living in a recreational vehicle.

Top 4 Must-Know RV Tips

If you are aiming to invest in an RV, it would be helpful if you would initially consider the following guidelines. Take note that a recreational vehicle acquisition is not a usual purchase transaction because RVs usually cost about $100,000 to $1,500,000. That would be a significant investment and would cost as much as a regular home.

1. If you are considering giving up your home in favor of an RV, do not act impulsively. It would be wise if you would first give it a try. You can get the feel by renting an RV for a holiday getaway. This way, you could experience how it is to live in an RV without necessarily making the significant investment. Thus, you can easily abandon the plan if you realize you are not really into it.

2. Recreational vehicle purchases are usually costly. Often, an RV costs as much as regular conventional home. Thus, before taking the transaction, plan ahead. If you can produce the full amount for the purchase, pay in full. Car financing schemes and loans would further inflate the RV's tag price.

3. If you choose to take a financing scheme, strive to make a 20% down payment. Usually, car financers and customers agree to a 10% minimum down payment scheme. If you pay 20% of the total amount ahead, the remaining cost to be paid in installment would be lessened. You could also keep up with the current valuation of the RV. Usually, such vehicles' valuation depreciates two years after the purchase.

4. If you realized that recreational vehicle ownership is not for you, dispose of the vehicle by selling at prices that would not spell losses for your investment. You can choose to buy another home after the initiative or return to your old house. With the current high gasoline prices, RVs are truly not advisable to own. A recreational vehicle is more than a luxury. It could be a necessity as more people nowadays choose to own one over owning a conventional home. The best tip anyone could offer for prospective RV buyers is to find the best deals in the market. There are cheaper RVs available, which are more advisable if you are not aiming to make living in the vehicle a life-long decision.

Thinking of buying your first RV? You'll find that the vast majority of RV owners absolutely love the RV lifestyle. When deciding if your budget has room for an RV, you'll need to consider RV Insurance.

As with automobiles, RV drivers are required by law to have liability coverage, just like people who drive conventional vehicles. This offers financial protection to other drivers that the RV may collide with, ensuring that if the RV inflicts damage on another vehicle, that damage will be paid for out of the RV driver's insurance. Liability coverage is the absolute minimum required by most states. However, in most instances it is wise to purchase more than what is simply required by law.

Recreational vehicle (RV) insurance policies are more complicated than either car insurance or homeowner's insurance policies. RV insurance policies combine aspects of both car and homeowner's insurance to guarantee that all aspects of the RV are covered. There are different types of RV insurance policies that provide different amounts of coverage. Some basic policies mainly cover the vehicular aspects of the RV, such as collision and liability. Other RV insurance policies also cover items within the RV, such as plumbing and appliances. It is important that RV owners get as much coverage as they can afford since RVs are both vehicles and living spaces, and both aspects need to be insured. It is highly advised to read your policy more than one time, paying particular attention to what is and isn't covered by the policy.

Collision insurance covers any damage to the RV if any type of collision occurs. Another important type of coverage is uninsured driver insurance. This type of coverage protects the RV driver from having to personally pay for any damages to the RV done by uninsured motorists who may collide with the RV. Total loss coverage ensures that if the RV is damaged beyond repair, the insurance will cover the cost of its replacement. This type of insurance protects the RV owner from any liability for injury or damage that may occur in the vicinity and area of the RV in a campsite.

Since RVs can be dwellings as well as vehicles, the property inside the RV should also be covered. The law does not require this coverage, but it is a good idea, especially for people who live primarily in their RV and store an ample amount of personal items of significant value in their RV. RVs typically contain items that cars don't have, such as furniture, appliances, and even widescreen plasma TVs. If the RV is damaged extensively, these items could require repair or replacement. Other items such as plumbing and electrical components of the RV can also be insured. Many people store things like clothes, TVs, computers, and camping gear in their RVs. Just like in a home, these items can be damaged or stolen while on the road. It would be a wise idea to purchase insurance for them. Some RV insurance policies are designed for people whose RV is their primary residence. These policies cover all vehicular and home aspects of the RV.

RV insurance policies are complex, but it is vital that RV owners purchase the right coverage. The bare minimum is not enough for people who live in their recreational vehicle.

Life in an RV can be wonderful or frustrating, depending on what you make it. The author lived full-time in an RV for two years, working on a commissioned book. Actually, she lived in two RVs, one after the other.

The first was a 20' motorhome. Those of us who were "full-timers" rather than vacationers joked about the way to get along with your spouse in a small RV. Whenever you meet going in opposite directions, hug and pivot. We hugged and pivoted in the tiny 20' motorhome for 365 days. Then we "moved up" to a 30' 5th wheel and continued to hug and pivot for another 365 days. It was part of keeping a happy marriage while living 24/7/365 in a small RV.

RV Bathroom Furniture

RV bathroom furniture is another part of living in a small RV. (Note: Every RV is small when you live in it.) RV bathroom furniture must be ready to "hug and pivot" to work in as little space as possible. RV bathroom furniture has several requirements. It must be… 1. Lightweight: Weight is very important when traveling in an RV. The more weight you put into RV bathroom furniture, the harder you will work your engine. You may also slow your travels. Think lightweight! The wooden magazine rack may look better, but the plastic one may weigh less.

2. Practical and efficient: Add nothing that doesn't earn its keep. RV and camping stores offer hundreds of appealing gadgets. Some serve no real purpose, or do not fulfill promises. When you look at bathroom furniture, consider what it will do for you. Look around to see if there is another item that will better do the job. Small baskets may help you organize, but small boxes may do it better

3. Mildew-resistant: An RV bathroom is a small, closed space. Unless you want to spend hours scrubbing mildew, make sure all bathroom furniture is mildew-resistant. Shower curtains or pleated doors should be treated to resist mildew. Shower hoses should, too. If you need a curtain or shade at the window, get one in mildew-resistant material.

4. Easy to clean: Most people use an RV for vacations and do not want to spend their time cleaning the bathroom. Look for bathroom furniture that is smooth, free of seams and cracks that collect dirt, mold, and mildew.

5. Stable: Any RV bathroom furniture you add must stay in place when traveling rough roads. Even if you don't plan to go off-road to a remote campsite, you will encounter tough patches in road construction. Items that will not stay put require frequent packing and unpacking.

RV bathroom furniture that does not meet these criteria should be considered carefully. Chances are good that you will trash it or replace it soon if it fails in one or more points.

RV Bathroom Remodel

An RV remodel of the bathroom gives you opportunity to put some of these principles into practice. For example, an RV tub may have a glass sliding door. It looks good, and you found a piece of 2×2 that keeps it from sliding while you're traveling. If you replaced it during your RV remodel, however, you could lighten your load.

Install a lightweight, accordion pleated door in its place. The lighter door will lock in place for travel. Your RV remodel might be even more radical. You may decide that no one uses that tub. Showers are quicker. Replace the tub with a white corner shower, opening up storage space. A fiberglass shower is a piece of bathroom furniture that is practical, efficient, mildew-resistant, and easy to clean. One-piece, seamless construction installs easily with Super Grip Foam Tape.

For less weight, use a shower curtain. Attach a small fastener to hold it in transit. An RV remodel might also take bathroom furniture from the hall and put it in the bath. Example: Having replaced the tub with a corner shower, move the hallway sink to the space beside the shower. You have free hallway space for a stacking washer/dryer!

Other RV bathroom furniture you might want to change: 1. brighter lights above a dark mirror 2. soap/shampoo dispenser attached to shower wall 3. over-the-door towel holders 4. lightweight medicine cabinet above sink 5. taller, roomier wood vanity 6. additional, plastic shower curtain rod for towels

Helpful Tip RV bathroom furniture can be found online at any RV parts center. Smaller accessories are usually found at camping supply stores.

In recent years, motor homes or RVs, have become the preferred method of travel for many. They can make traveling more enjoyable, as you can appreciate the scenery, which you can't do in a plane. You can use the rest room without stopping, which you can't do in a car. And you can stop anytime you want, which you can't do in a train. And because you are traveling with a bed in the back, it doesn't matter what time you stop for the night. Also, you don't have to worry about getting all your stuff out of the hotel in the morning if you are staying in different towns on your vacation.

	Various Categories Of Motor Homes

Motorized RVs and Towed RVs are the two types of motor homes. The name says it all. Motorized RVs move under their own power, while the towed RVs are hooked to the back of your car or truck. Towed RVs are also called campers or trailers. Of the motorized RVs, there are three types: Class A, Class B and Class C.

Following is a quick crash course of the difference in the three.

Class A This is the largest and most expensive type of motor home. They have all the comforts of home such as living area, bedroom, dining room and a kitchen. The driver and passenger seats can actually spin around so they can double as a couple extra chairs in the living room. The thing that makes these so popular is they drive just like your car. Except for the size, you don't need to learn anything different when driving a Class A, as they don't take much to get used to.

Class B The smaller Class B motor home is built on the same chassis as a van with a raised roof. These are fairly small, generally speaking, but are also easy to drive. They contain a living area, bedroom, bathroom and a dining area as well. They are quite a bit smaller than the Class A and they have less overall space and the sleeping quarters are quite small.

Class C If your budget is tight, the class C is for you. They are considerably smaller than the other two classes. The sleeping area is built over the drivers cab. This type is built on a truck chassis. The nice thing is that these also have a living, bath and dining area, but they are going to be rather small. The low cost and towing capability of the Class C makes it good choice also.

How to get a Motor Home

When faced with purchasing your motor home, there are a lot of options to consider. From what size to what your budget is. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you go shopping.

There are some things that are overlooked when you first take a look. One is to make sure you are buying from a person you can trust. If the salesperson cannot answer your questions, keep looking. It may be a good idea to buy from a dealer as opposed to the guy down the street.

It is also very advisable to take a test drive before you buy the motor home. How does it feel? Can you drive it comfortably? Is there enough room so that your passengers are not sitting on each other? Is the bathroom large enough to use? You have to feel absolutely sure about the motor home. Try every thing out before committing to buy.

If you are not sure you want to own an RV, you can rent one instead. If you don't think you will use it very often or can't afford it, renting may be a good option for you.

If you find a model you like but it doesn't come with all the amenities you want, check with the dealer. The same model may be available with the extra flash you are looking for. Be sure you shop around. This is a big decision and you don't want to settle on just any model.

	Summary:

A motor home is a great way to travel to and from your vacation destination. You don't have to stop for bathroom breaks or worry about gathering all your things in the morning from the hotel room – it travels with you!
